Carelon Post-Acute Care | DMEPOS Medicaid Program Update

The transition of the Medicaid Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) UM program to Carelon Medical Benefits Management, Inc. effective July 1, 2024, has been postponed until further notice. Continue to follow the current process when requesting authorizations for DMEPOS services.

Carelon utilizes CMS National and Local Coverage Determinations (NCD and LCD’s) when applicable, or Anthem medical policies and clinical Utilization Management guidelines to facilitate the appropriate evaluation of medical necessity by including assessment of the member throughout the continuum of care.
